FNE 23.12 LLS change and what CLS behavior is

In the FNE LLS 23.12 release notes, it states:

"License Server Now Reclaims Features Upon Expiry When a client holds licenses for multiple features with differing expiration dates, the server now immediately releases the licenses when a feature’s expiration date is reached, instead of holding all licenses until the feature with the longest expiration date expires. This enhancement aims to improve the availability of concurrent licenses and avoids that features are blocked by a client and not usable by others. (FNE-20168)"

Can you confirm what the current behavior is for the CLS? I want to know if/when the above change was done to the CLS.

Hi @ppavlik ,

This improved functionality will soon be available for Cloud License Servers in the FlexNet Operations 2024.01 release.   The current functionality on CLS is as follows:

When a served device holds licenses for multiple features with differing expiration dates, the server holds all licenses and will not make them available for use by other devices until the feature with the longest expiration date expires.   Note this only applies to licenses that expire, a served device can return licenses back to the server at any time which are immediately made available by the server for use on other devices.

Thanks,

Jim
