Workflow Manager Email Settings Moved from Web.config to the Company Preferences Page
Workflow Manager Email Settings Moved from Web.config to the Company Preferences Page
This article details some settings that used to be in the web.config, but are now in the database after upgrading to a more recent version of Workflow Manager.
Synopsis
If you upgraded from an older version of Workflow Manager (like 2014) to a recent version (like 2017) you may notice that some options that were set in the web.config no longer seem to do what they are expected. This is because of the introduction of the Company Preferences in Workflow Manger 2016, that moved some settings from the web.config to the database.
Discussion
Workflow Manager went through a major redesign with the 2015 release. As part of this, more changes were made in later releases of Workflow Manger to make some configurations easier. In Workflow Manager 2016 the Company Preferences view was added, and some settings were moved from the web.config to the database. With this change it makes it easier to set them, but if you relied on these options in a previous release you may notice some problems if they have not been configured in the site. These settings will all be related to notification emails. The following settings are:
- Send Email To Auto Imported Users
- Send Email To Requester
- Include User Name In Email Subject
- Send Email As BCC
- Send One Email To All Users
- Send Email To Users With Edit Privileges
Workaround
If you notice a problem with email notifications not going at as they previously did, you will want to verify the settings found under Settings > Company Preferences.
