Unable to Create a New AdminStudio Catalog or Update an Existing Catalog due to Looping or Hung Dialogs

After installing Adminstudio, a new Catalog is unable to be created, or an existing catalog being upgraded due to the Application Catalog Wizard "looping" its Dialogs or appearing to hang.

Symptoms

When attempting to create a new AdminStudio Application Catalog using the Application Catalog Wizard, the dialog boxes loop back to the beginning preventing the creation of the catalog. It has also been observed that the dialogs will "hang" and not progress when clicking "Next".

This has been seen on Wnidows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.

Cause

This is caused due to the absence of "Security update (KB2922229)"

Steps To Reproduce

When attempting to create a catalog with the Application Catalog Wizard this behaviour is seen:

Step 1:

After Clicking next the following dialog appears:

After entering your database credentials and checking you are able to connect, clicking next shows the following dialog:

User-added image

After choosing to enable the software repository or not, clicking next rather than building the catalog returns you to the first dialog as seen below:

Resolution

Make sure "Security update (KB2922229)" is installed on the client machine.

This can be obtained either through windows updates or by downloading from the following Microsoft page:
