Hi, We already have our 1st version (1.0) of product installer out, which was created using IA 2011 (SP3). Now i'm trying to create an installer for the next release of the product (ver 2.0), where i will take care of upgrade and other stuff. But when i try to execute my 2.0 installer, it always executes 1.0 installer in maintenance mode. Any idea how should i force IA to execute my 2.0 installer instead of 1.0. Thanks in advance. -- Masud

Yes there seems to be a difference in chars displayed. I think it is some thing to do with the OS rather than IA. I'm sorry, i have run out of ideas. My sincere apologies for not being of any help to you.

Got it. The default IA behavior is to display the Post-Install GUI even if you cancel the installation. As you mentioned, by putting a rule you should be able over come this behavior.

If Roll back is triggered after cancel, then $IA_ROLLBACK$ is set to true. Just curious to know why you need another variable to indicate the cancel status?

If I am not wrong, you have to change your windows system locale to Japanese.

Well since it is a built-in dialog not sure how we can get a handle to the dialog at run time. A not so easier but still workable work around would be instead of using built-in action use your own custom action and a msg dialog.

Not sure it will work but you may give a try. These titles are defined in "C:\Program Files\InstallAnywhere 2011 Enterprise\resource\i18nresources\custom_en" (For windows). You may change the string there and rebuild the app.

You may use "Find Component in Registry" action to check if the product is already installed or not.

You can certainly execute Custom code during pre-install phase and Java also will be available for sure. If java is not available then your installer UI it self will be shown to the user.

I have not tried SP4. But when i upgraded from SP2 to SP3, i had to uninstall SP2 and then install SP3. I think it must be similar for SP4 as well.

Find my answers for your questions as below. 1) Unfortunately the example link that you are referring to does not support the rollback feature that you are looking for. One work around i can think of is... in the patch post uninstaller, you may silently install the original installer. (Be careful becoz you many loose existing data) 2. The example shows you how to achieve this. 3. Again the example shows you how to achieve this. 4. In the patch installer while copying the files just put a rule for checking the OS type. (Also I tried to create patches using the following How To link, but I am not able to install the patch since the $USER_INSTALL_DIR$ returns null. My assumption is that the “Set InstallAnywhere Variable – Single Variable” sets $USER_INSTALL_DIR$ to null. “http://kb.flexerasoftware.com/selfse...nalID=Q112993”.) You are not supplying the correct component UID. You may check the /var/.com.zerog.registry.xml file on the system where your original product is installed to find out the correct UID of the component.

Since you are getting no JVM error, you have to bundle JVM with your installer. You need to bundle an appropriate VM based on the OS and version. If you do not have the VM, you may download it from the following site. http://www.flexerasoftware.com/products/installanywhere/files-utilities.htm Check the VM packs tab.
