I'm not aware of a more recent version of that document. I understand the context of that document is that it was prepared by an individual for a specific project several years ago, but it it not content that is maintained.
One other resource that may be helpful is the following, which includes a high level description of different types of data that the agent gathers: The big choice for gathering inventory: the FlexNet inventory agent or tool "XYZ"?

I would go for install and it should upgrade the already deployed version. You can test to perform a manual installation/upgrade to verify that it work in your environment

@atique - As mentioned by @erwinlindemann, the Flexera Agent has only been tested and verified against HP-UX 11i v3. While is it very possible that the current version of the Agent will install on v1 without any issues, if you run into issue you will likely not be able to obtain support from Flexera.
