@cartejam - I am looking at your screen shot from your original post. I can see that on this specific server, the Inventory Date from the Flexera Agent is October 22, 2021 - but the Inventory Date from the Altiris Agent is January 2, 2022. This is a difference in time of 10 weeks, which could also explain why there is a difference in inventory between the 2 agents.

yes, correct. And you might need to adjust port (80, 443,..) or protocol (http/https) depending on your setup. If you look in the registry on a windows client/server you will recognize these settings.

Hello @cartejam I have seen similar issue from one of the end user account. Their setup is using 'Citrix Cloud' <> 'Azure VM' <> FNMS. The result is the same as yours that such 'short-lived' VM which usually generated from a base/gold image where has Agent software installed. While when they are turned on daily it will get a new serial number. We even has the Azure adapter setup daily and expecting the 'terminated/closed' instance info can be captured by Azure adapter and do some deletion for us. But it doesn't seem work that way. My scenario is when the VM is terminated from Citrix Cloud console , Azure VM will be cascaded clean up (no longer a vm, but only reserve some disk/network resource) so that won't be charged by MS Azure. This is why Azure adapter was unable to capture such VM 'terminated' info as there was no VM at all when adapter was running. Overall my support ticket journey was at least helped me confirmed my scenario is currently not fully supported as it involved 'Citrix Cloud'. (You can find a project roadmap item from "Ideas" portal). Again I am not 100% percent sure your setup involved citrix cloud or not. I have end up with either build a clean up script for my on premise customer or build an 'ignore' inventory BAS adapter for cloud customer. Hope it helps. Best Regards Kevin

Two possible approaches to restoring the configuration of an agent on a UNIX-like operating system that has got corrupted are as follows.
Uninstall & reinstall
Uninstall the agent
Remove the /var/opt/managesoft directory
Re-install the agent
Re-initialize configuration and re-bootstrap the agent by applying policy
This can be done by executing commands like the following (as a user with root rights):
/opt/managesoft/bin/mgsconfig -i /opt/managesoft/install/default.ini /opt/managesoft/bin/mgspolicy -t Machine -o DownloadRootURL=http://your-beacon/ManageSoftDL

As @tjohnson1 has suggested, it is likely that the FlexNet inventory agent has gathered some data about these computers that show they are able to run a virtualization technology and host host virtual machines. For example, if Hyper-V or KVM is running on the machines then they are able to host VMs, and so get classified as a "VM host".
Data gathered and imported from Altiris is likely not sufficient for Flexera One ITAM to be able to identify virtualization technologies with the same precision that can be done with data from the FlexNet inventory agent, which would explain why the inventory device type only changed once the FlexNet agent inventory data was gathered.

@winvarma - No, a newly installed agent does not gather inventory until the next scheduled event. For example, if the Inventory Settings Page has your inventory schedule set to run every Saturday, then if you successfully install an agent on Monday, it does not perform the first inventory until Saturday.
