Greetings: I learned recently that the default HOSTIDs on UNIX systems is simply the MAC address. This seems as if someone could easily spoof it to overcome the security and run on any system they'd like (as long as it has that MAC address). Am I mistaken? Is there a way to harden the HOSTID so it would be harder to be circumvented? Thank you for your help with this. I also apologize if this has already been covered elsewhere and I missed it.
