Thanks for checking. That works but does require involvement from business partners. Worse yet, we found a few instances where the file was stored as part of a Windows profile so the only person who could find the file was someone with Admin credentials. Apparently the software was installed by someone who no longer exists in our domain, so the file was hidden to other users. Ugh

The following is from FNMS Help: "IA" evidence means this evidence was captured from InstallAnywhere registry file named ".com.zerog.registry.xml". On Unix based systems, this registry file will typically be found in "/var" for root user installs and in the home directory of a non-root user when the corresponding non-root user has installed an InstallAnywhere package. For Mac OS X, the registry can be found under "/Library/Preferences" and on Windows under "C:\Program Files\Zero G Registry" or under "C:\Program Files (x86)\Zero G Registry". We have experienced a few times where we are unable to locate the path of the .com.zerog.registry.xml file. Is there a way to view the file location?

Thank you! I will look for that file and see what the contents can tell me. Hopefully someone from Flexera will see this, but as you are working with them might I suggest they also use the db2licm -l command. We have been audited multiple times by IBM and they always ask us to run this command on DB2 servers. The output gives version info along with other key info like if this is a restricted use license, i.e., installed by BAW and if any addon or modules have been activated.

Any chance details on IIM Installer Evidence type can be shared? If IIM evidence is reported, what would you see on the device? An XML file? some sort of registry entry? Please help!

I submitted this issue to Natalie Lias at Flexera yesterday following the User Group meeting. I see it as two issues: 1. If you create a local ARL, when the Flexera ARL comes out, it often accurately reports the number of devices, BUT evidence used in the local ARL is left as unrecognized when you delete the duplicate local ARL. Only solution is to manually add this making the Flexera ARL a Flexera (Extended) ARL This makes extra work and makes it appear that you have messed with the ARL even though the evidence should be encompassed by the published evidence rule, i.e., version 8.5.% as noted below. 2. There would be no need to create a local ARL if Flexera published an ARL for new releases with in days or even proactively rather than making customers wait a few months for it to be recognized.

We imported SCCM to our FNMS on Premise deployment for a number of years, but eventually ran into issues with SCCM collecting file evidence. The team that supports SCCM turned file evidence collection off due to resource consumption which lead us to deploy the FlexNet Agent on all Windows PCs and servers. Our original intent in using SCCM was to reduce the number of agents running, but have been happy with the FlexNet Agent since we transitioned. It is required for more and more reasons and we felt it would continue to provide superior inventory collection. One example is the collection of software tags. SCCM did not collect this info and it left us with vague or no edition information from IBM and Adobe, etc. However, turning off SCCM does impact a number of unexpected things. I would definitely recommend working with Flexera support. It is possible to "turn off" the import which does not purge the SCCM data. Once you remove SCCM it does purge the data, support docs and engineers can elaborate. Also SCCM does supply user data from Active Directory which impacted us as we eventually removed the SCCM data source. Good luck, I think you'll be happy with the FlexNet Agent alone if you choose to go that route, just takes a bit of work to complete the transition.

FNMS does not provide fields for tracking a service management ticket number or contact person, etc. How do you keep track which (unauthorized) applications have a ticket that has been opened or which software management team member is working on your list of unauthorized software and which applications need attention? We have a spreadsheet with this along with date opened, last follow up date, etc. but are considering adding custom fields to the Application object (for Unauthorized Software) or License object (for Licenses at Risk) so we can divide open issues among team members and avoid multiple people working on same issue. Suggestions or successful solutions?
