Question:
I noticed a lot of servers were not in the report. When I go look them up in device detail they do not show up, but under assets they do.
Answer:
Only devices that are currently licensed or have been licensed in the past are eligible for the server inventory report. The same rule applies for device information in the device details section of the portal.

Question:
Service accounts are created on all servers but account name is same on all servers, passwords are different. Hence after 5 servers validation, service accounts are getting locked on other servers.
Answer:
The RN150 will attempt each credential once during a discovery. If the account credentials fail to authenticate, the RN150 will move to the next credential on file and attempt to authenticate. There is no feature to place the multiple credentials in a certain order to be used during discovery. For this issue, the account lockout policies would need to be updated to allow the multiple attempts or we recommend creating a single service account so that the issue does not reoccur.

Question:
What impact does the RN150 have to the environment?
Answer:
As every environment is different. We do not have the ability to predict if inventory or performance collection could significantly impact what could be an already over utilized server or network segment. The inventory process on Windows devices can spike server CPU utilization while it runs the WMI product queries. These commands are only run when the device is inventoried or if a Credential Validation is run against it. If network stability is at risk or of a major concern, please start small in the scope of scanning. This can be done by using a single subnet section for inventory and having the onsite team monitor the increase in network or server load during that time. Those same devices could then be licensed and monitored for 2-3 days to examine load during performance collection.

Question:
What does the ITOA platform mean by Orphaned - Virtual Machine and how do I fix it?
Answer:
Orphaned VMware devices are caused when a rescan occurs in the RN150 appliance, and the host/VM is not available for inventory as is reported from vCenter. This can be caused if a VM is migrated to a new vCenter, if the IP address changes or MAC address changes, or if the RN150 could not successfully communicate with vCenter at the time of inventory. If there are VMs that have been classified as Orphaned and you have confirmed the VM is available, it is possible there was an issue with the RN150 communicating directly with vCenter. For this case, you may request a rescan to see if the RN150 can successfully communicate with vCenter. If successful and the inventory details for the VMs have not changed, upon completion of the the rescan completing, the VMs should no longer be classified as "Orphaned."

Question:
What is the "threat level" tag for Windows machines referring to?
Answer:
Every device who has a Threat Check in your environment will have a Threat Level. The higher the level the great the security threat of a particular device.
The Threat Level is determined by combining all known vulnerabilities and the behavior of a device.
For example:
Level 1: A device has an unused listening service
Level 2: The above and the device has a vulnerability on an installed package
Level 3: All of the above and that package is running
Level 4: All of the above and that server connects to the internet
Level 5: All of the above and when that server connects to the internet it connects to a anonymous proxy
This example is meant to illustrate the logic behind Threat Levels, not be an exact description of how Threat Level is determined.
We recommend at least investigating every device that's level 3 and above.
