Hi Denny, Ideally there should be only one entry listed for the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 client and Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 Full Prerequisite. Kindly ensure that there are no duplicates of these two prerequisites in the location C:\Program Files\InstallShield\2010LE\SetupPrerequisites. The prerequisites listed in the Redistributables view are based on the .prq (prerequisite) files present in the location C:\Program Files\InstallShield\2010LE\SetupPrerequisites. Thanks, Lenwin

Hi, Could you kindly let us know the exact steps you followed which resulted in Visual Studio crashing. Kindly provide us a small sample project (.isl + .sln file) which replicates the crashing behavior so that we can investigate further. Thanks, Lenwin

Hi Marc, The data entered in the customer information dialog will be stored in the property table. In order to access these properties you would have to write your own custom action which copies these properties to a text file or to a registry key at Install time. Later you may access this data through your application. You may use the MSI API call MSIGetProperty to retrieve the properties. Thanks, Lenwin

Hi Marc, The data entered in the Customer Information dialog is stored in the Property table. The data entered for the UserName field is stored in USERNAME property and the data entered for the Organization field is stored in the COMPANYNAME property. Since the Property Manager view is not available in InstallShield Limited Edition you are unable to view these properties. Inorder to access these MSI properties you would have to write your own script in InstallShield Limited Edition. These properties can be easily accessed in a Premier and Professional editions of InstallShield which are enhanced versions of InstallShield. Thanks, Lenwin

Hi Mashkov, Could you kindly test the stripped down project on your machine and let us know if you still encounter the crashing issue. The stripped down project works at our end. As the crashing behavior was very inconsistent we were unable to find the exact cause of the issue. If the stripped down project file works fine on your system then kindly add one project at a time, build the project and check for the crashing issue. If you still come across the crashing behavior with the stripped down project then kindly provide us a small sample project which consists of only 3 - 4 projects which replicates the crashing behavior so that we can investigate further. Thanks, Lenwin

Hi Chensley, You will be able to modify app.config during install time through the XML view in the InstallShield Premier and Professional editions. As the XML view is unavailable (locked) in InstallShield Limited Edition you would have to write your own custom code to achieve this task. Writing a custom code is a complex procedure when compared to achieving the same task through the XML view in InstallShield Premier and Professional editions. Thanks, Lenwin

Hi Mashkov, Thank you for your response. Could you kindly test the project with administrator rights and check if you come across the same error message. Kindly create a new project when you log in as an administrator and set the option of scanning for .NET dependencies to none before adding any files to the project. Thanks, Lenwin

Hi, Yes. As InstallShield Limited Edition is integrated with Visual Studio 2010 it is mandatory to have Visual Studio 2010 installed if you wish to use InstallShield Limited Edition. Thanks, Lenwin

Hi Mashkov, Kindly provide us the following information so that we can investigate further. Could you let us know how you are adding the files to the project. Is it by dragging and dropping the files or by Right-clicking in the files view and adding the files. Could you let us know through which view you are adding the files to the project. Kindly let us know if you are an administrator on your machine. If you are not an administrator do you still come across this error if you login as an administrator? Could you let us know the desired behavior you are expecting for handling COM information. Is it marking it as self-registering? Or Extract COM information as soon as the file is added? (Rather than at build time) Kindly let us know the version of SQL Server you are trying to add. We would like to ensure that we are testing with the exact bits. Thanks, Lenwin

Hi, We are glad that everything is working as expected. InstallShield Limited Edition comes integrated with Visual Studio 2010. We do have standalone editions of InstallShield which are independent of the Visual Studio Software. InstallShield Premier and Professional are the standalone editions available. The Premier and Professional editions have additional features which are currently not available (“locked”) in InstallShield Limited Edition. Thanks, Lenwin

Hi Mashkov, We are currently working on your project. We are trying to identify if the issue is related to the InstallShield Limited Edition (.isl) projects or with the Visual studio projects present in your project file. We have stripped down your project file to contain only 4 projects (2 visual studio projects + 2 InstallShield Limited Edition Projects). With only 4 projects we are not encountering the crashing issue. As the behavior is inconsistent we are still working on it to find the root cause of the issue. As soon as I have any further information I would get back to you. Thanks, Lenwin.
