An observation and question as I am looking at our Oracle environment and working to optimize the licensing. I notice that when I am working with the NUP metric license view the license role (example: PROD, DEV, TEST, etc.) is not available for this metric. I am assuming it is because typically a NUP consumes non-production licensing, however, this is not necessarily the case for us. I am now having to dump this consumption info into a spreadsheet and run vlookups from active inventory to determine what role each of the VMs plays. I assume this would be an enhancement? It may not see logical to have the field available, but it really is for us. Shelby

What is the best practice according top Flexera to accept (or not) IBM Recommended License Changes that come in? Someone decided to "help" me by accepting ALL the recommended changes without reviewing or considering impact to the licensing. I have now spent the better part of 2 months trying to get my consumption back in line. Every time I make a change or try to reverse the change that I didn't make a ripple effect happens and several licenses are affected. I'm at a loss as to what to do. Typically I read what the recommended changes are and make a decision to either accept or reject. Unfortunately that didn't happen in this instance and I'm doing clean up. The same thing happened to me early on when I took the recommendation of someone at Flexera and accepted ALL changes. That took a month to clean up as well. Since then I've been very careful about making changes. How does one know to accept these changes in the first place and how do we really know what the impact will be? What happens if you do not accept the changes? Should I open a case with Flexera to address this? Thanks, Shelby

What's the trick to getting FNMS to discover my TIBCO installed apps, specifically for processor based licensing? I can see ONLY desktop products from TIBCO. Any advice is appreciated. Shelby

Has anyone ever heard of IBM PVUs being calculated against a "client" license and if so, how does one differentiate that a client "license" is in use as opposed to a full license. I keep getting push back on this. Thanks in advance! Shelby

I'm not understanding the definition of "Number of Licenses in Use" in the FNMS online help information for OSW. Why do I see 0 on many entries when I would expect to see some liceneses in use. Does anyone know what would cause this? Thanks, Shelby

Thank you for the suggestion. I won't be asking for an enhancement for this as it would be low priority. We have many other requests that have been in the "Q" for a while that would take much more precedence.

Our internal engineer is working on this. Something in the background is not updating. FNMS for some reason isn't "seeing" the update we made to our license. Odd that Flexera cannot correct this quickly.

Among the host of other issues/problems we are having implementing the Oracle PURL, I'd like to understand why the views are not the same across the board for various publishers. Why am I able to see "inventory device type" on every other publisher besides Oracle? I know the consumption is at the host level so this may be the logic, however, I don't understand not seeing this same field for each publisher as I do use it in our environment. Thanks

We recently deployed the Oracle PURL. I was expecting to see consumption for many of the Oracle options which is not happening. I have seen a few articles that indicate we should be seeing a last used date which would be helpful as well. I'm not finding anything specific as to why consumption is not showing. Absolutely no options are showing consumption and we use them. Is there something during the actual setup/implementation of the PURL that needed to be selected in order to see consumption for these options? Thanks, Shelby

Chris, How does one validate the 2nd bullet point: Remember that a file evidence recognition rule for the invoked executable must be associated with the application record in the ARL for usage to be tracked. Is this something our internal engineer would have to validate for us? I'm always concerned when reporting "last used date". Especially when the field is blank. I have no idea if it is accurate or not and can cause a lot of issues. I've been told that a blank "LUD" meant they had NEVER used the product. Is this not true? Shelby
