What is the expected timeline for App Broker to support ServiceNow Paris? Are there any expected changes with Paris that could cause compatibility problems with current App Broker versions? The customer I'm working with now has already begun upgrading to Paris and is running App Broker 2019R1.

A customer is looking to use middleware and API's for connecting App Broker to Cloud FNMS because their security team recommended it due to the fact that AB is on-prem and FNMS is in the cloud. Wondering if anyone has seen or done something like this before. Specifically they are looking at using Boomi to do the integration. Currently they are re-evaluating the need from a security perspective, but would like to hear from other experiences (if there are any) should they decide to use middleware for this.

A customer is looking to implement both a dev and prod App Broker instance and currently only has one SCCM environment to point them both to. I'm sure that if they were to go this route there should be some best practices to take into consideration to help easily identify what is dev and what is prod in SCCM, but for now I'm just wondering if this is technically possible? I don't see anything about the web service that's installed on the SCCM server that would limit it to a single App Broker instance, but am I wrong about that or is there another limitation that would prevent one SCCM instance from connecting with two App Broker instances?

I know interactive login rights aren't required for steady state App Portal/App Broker, but for the installation of App Broker - does the service account need to have interactive login rights or can it be properly installed without it?

When integrated with ServiceNow, does App Broker always initiate the communication between the two tools, or does ServiceNow also initiate communication?

A customer implementing App Broker is looking to import around 700 Catalog Items into the tool, and is using it with ServiceNow as the front end. It looks as though the only way to display catalog items in ServiceNow that are mapped to their counterpart in App Broker, is to use tiles for individual apps and there isn't much in terms of options to organize them and break them out into groups. Is this accurate or is there a recommended way to organize a large number of catalog items without negatively impacting end user ux too much?

Can reclamation for unused software be utilized in App Broker if the FlexNet agent isn't fully deployed? Could SCCM provide the last used date information for applications to App Broker by enabling that feature in the SCCM client?

Working to go live with App Broker in the coming weeks, this customer is experiencing the wrong account assigned to a PC when doing request on behalf for new/re-imaged PC's. The users assigned are often the helpdesk technician that sets up the new PC rather than the end user. The question is - where does this data come from? How does App Broker know which use is assigned exactly, is this coming from the Computer/User relationship in SCCM or is it somehow based on the calculated/assigned user coming from FNMS?

Thank you Jim this is helpful. The specific situation I was asking about is no longer a concern as they decided not to deploy in a DMZ, but I have another situation that came up that is similar that I wanted to run by you as well - a different customer has AB deployed and wants to connect the dev AB instance to their dev SCCM which resides in a DMZ. We tried just installing the web service and setting up the connection like we normally would just to see what would happen and it doesn't connect because there isn't any trust built between the two. I'm wondering what the best way to deal with this would be - we could perhaps set up an edge/proxy device like you mentioned in your previous response that could facilitate the communication between the two systems? Or maybe just setting up a local account in the DMZ with the same permissions as the domain, AB service account would do it? Any advice here would be appreciated!

Although a Simple recover model is recommended (required?) for App Broker's database, if a customer has a policy of using a Full recover model instead, would that be a problem for App Broker in any way?

Thanks Charles this is great info, just one follow up question - does ServiceNow also sync Questions and Workflows that are created in App Broker? That's the real question at hand here - where should the workflow processes be created, in SN or AB?

I'm hoping to get a little bit of information regarding best practices when creating catalog items and workflows with an App Broker with ServiceNow integration. I see in the documentation that Catalog Items get automatically synced from AB to SN using a background process, which makes me think that CI's are usually created in AB and then left to sync up with SN. Is that the best practice? And for workflows, I'm guessing that workflows are normally created in ServiceNow and App Broker simply acts as the automated deployment tool/notification sender, and everything else is set up in SN. Can someone confirm this or explain a little further?

Can I get some information on which versions of App Broker would be compatible with ServiceNow Orlando? A customer is on AB 2019 14.1.0 and is going to have SN upgraded to Orlando and would like to know if an upgrade of AB would also be necessary.
