I'm receiving an error when trying to uninstall after an update: Error 1316.A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file C:\Windows\Installer\[ProductName].msi This is on Vista x86 SP1. From some searching I've done, I've tried mulitple things...uninstalling from Add/Remove Programs and then also using the .exe via the Maintenance dialog to remove the product. I have not changed the name of the product in between these updates. Can anyone offer any assistance with this issue? I'd be happy to give any additional information if someone could assist me. Thanks!

joshstechnij wrote: I am able to successfully launch an InstallScript MSI project on Windows 7. The log information provided indicates that ISRT.dll couldn't be extracted from ISSetup.dll. I'm not sure why this would be an issue after setup.inx was successfully extracted. Can you reproduce this problem with a sample InstallScript MSI project? Does this behavior occur if any non-essential services are shut down (i.e., turn off any virus scanners, anti-spyware/malware utilities, etc.)? I tried one of the sample Installscript MSI projects, and it worked in Windows 7 (Cumulative Setup Sample). So then I went back and disabled Kaspersky 8.0 and the my Installscript MSI worked properly. I guess Kaspersky was blocking some of the Installshield DLLs from extracting. That worked though, thanks for your help!

I've been trying to get COM information to extract out of one the DLLs in my Installshield project so that I can include the information in the install rather than having to run regsvr32 on the DLL in a CustomAction. The Installshield UI doesn't properly refresh the information from the DLL when I go to Advanced Settings-->COM Registration -->Refresh COM Data for Key File. When I use RegSpyUI.exe to try and look at the DLL, I get an error "ISRegSpy.exe - Entry Point Not Found - The procedure entry point SHGetKnownFolderPath could not be located in the dynamic link library SHELL32.dll". I'm running IS 2009 on XP SP3, could anyone help me with this error?

I have a custom action within a chained MSI that requires Admin privileges. If I was installing this MSI on its own, I would just bootstrap the MSI within a setup.exe to get the Admin privileges. However when I run an Installscript MSI that installs this MSI via chaining as an Admin, this MSI is not getting the proper privileges because it's returning an error that would only occur in Non-Admin mode.

I ended up changing the attribute for the InstallWelcome dialog in the Dialog table to include the SysModal bit. This changed the value of Attribute from 3 to 11 and it appears to be working. Thanks for the assistance! EDIT: That didn't fix it...I tried the install on another PC and the InstallWelcome dialog for my chained MSI is still appearing behind the Installshield progress dialog. Any other suggestions?

On my PC when I'm utilizing chained MSIs in an installer, all of the chained MSIs appear behind the Installshield install dialog. This makes it difficult for the end user to recognize that there is some action to be taken. Is there any way to ensure that dialogs for chained MSIs appear in front of all other dialogs?
