Summary

The Spider setup tells you that the unicode settings do not match.

Cause

This message is displayed, if the unicode setting in the registry does not match the settings in the database.

Often this is seen, when restoring databases from an older Spider version, and then using those databases with a recently installed system.

Recent systems will use only unicode settings, while older systems may have been installed with a non unicode database setting.

Resolution

Warning: Changing the registry might have unknown implications, please be careful

  1. Open the registry editor
  2. Navigate to the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\brainwaregroup\Spider\CoreServer_xx\MSSQL (CoreServer_xx represents the instance you want to edit)
  3. Update the Value "UnicodeInstall" to the setting of your database (1 = Unicode database, 0 = Non Unicode database)
  4. Exit registry editor
  5. Try Setup again.
