Hi Everyone,

Thanks for taking the time for joining us for this FNMS R2 release webinar. If you submitted a question during this webinar that we were not able to get to, you can find the answers below.

When FNMS will be available?

The FNMS 2019 R2 on-premises release will be available for download next week. November 12 is the planned date.

Will the current Citrix usage and application issue be fixed in the next release?

We have been reviewing incoming issues around Citrix. While there are are some changes that we are making, we have noticed that some of the issues are related to configuration - this is why we have released KB articles. If there are specific issues that you are concerned about, please continue to work with support.

When do you plan to provide Oracle piece just discussed for on-prem, this new release?

It will not be available in 2019 R2. Engineering is investigating approaches but I cannot yet confirm whether it will be part of the 2020 R1 release, although this is highly desirable.

Is targeting supported for older versions (pre FNMS 2019 R2) of the Flexera agent, too?

Yes, You can target older agent versions.

Targetting agent upgrade will only be available once the agent at 2019 R2 version, correct? We will not be able to leverage targeted upgrades of older versions of agent in our environment e.g. 2018 R1?

Yes, you can target upgrades of older agents, but you will need 2019 R2 infrastructure and beacons.

On JAVA Inventory. What about scenarios where the FNMS Agent is not the default inventory source? Is this feature update therefore limited?

Collecting Java inventory requires deep level introspection which many 3rd party tools do not support. Flexera recommends using FlexNet Agent in order to get complete inventory detail. On Windows, it is possible that 3rd party inventory data will provide sufficient detail for our recognition engine (e.g. installer evidence).

Regarding "Ability to identify commercial version of Oracle Java": is this only available in the release 2019 R2 or is this part of an ARL-update?

There are 2 parts to the update. Agent update (available since mid-2019 and ARL updates, ongoing). You do not require 2019 R2 infrastructure.

Does this option support Red Hat OpenStack?

I believe this is a question regarding KVM - the answer is Yes.

R2 to ensure FNMS LMS reports will be accepted by Oracle?

The latest update is available as part of the 2019 R2 release. Using a previous version will not provide all of the details and provide data using the updated requirements, but I would recommend discussing it with your Oracle representatives.

Can you elaborate on the Product Improvement of Inventory agent unique identifier?

This enhancement allows us to better match inventory records (rather than trying to use computer and domain name). Further description is available in Features by release https://helpnet.flexerasoftware.com/fnms/EN/features/index.html#FeatureList/2019R1-2/RN_chg_AgentUniqueID.html

Can we upgrade directly from FNMS 2018 r1 directly to 2019 r2?

Yes. We recommend reviewing documentation, backing up your environment before performing the upgrade. We have customers performing this operation themselves, engaging partners or our Services.

Are there any changes/new features for Flexera Analytics?

We are working to revamp our Analytics capabilities with a goal to deliver a complete solution by mid-2020. We are looking for customer stakeholders and if you are interested, please contact your CSM or account representative.

Will it be possible to get the catalog content from FNMS?

In the long term, we plan to merge the content of FNMS and Data Platform, so there will be one single source of data.

When is App Broker available for other than SCCM? like BigFix?

We plan to deliver the extensible framework for App Broker, using which it will be possible to integrate with other deployment technologies as long as they expose the right APIs. Depending on the priority, we will make the integration out of the box but you can get it sooner with the help of our partners, consultants or services team using the extensible framework.

Will App Broker cloud eventually have the capability to integrate with on-prem FNMS?

Yes, we plan to support integrating with on-prem FNMS so that it facilitates our on-prem customers to migrate to App Broker cloud. This will be high on our list.

Is that Technopedia integration also coming into App Portal on-premise?

Technopedia is a cloud only product, so it will not be possible to integrate with on-prem App Portal.

As it is, I've been working directly with Engineering to get the issues fixed, the current issue being that Citrix evidence is considered as Orphaned, and is getting deleted, which makes the Xen App adapter not usable in its current state.

This is something that we are working on. Please continue to engage with Support.

Is there a plan to inventory Linux container applications?

Yes, we are working on support for Containers, including Discovery and Inventory of software in containers. We are targeting 1H 2020 for the delivery of the solution.

Is it a possibility to have an SQL statement that performs this Oracle options evidence analysis on on-prem since it is not included in 2019r2

We are working to deliver Oracle DB Transparency capability for our on-premises solution in 2020.

Any changes on the reporting side - for BI/Analytics?

We are working to revamp our Analytics capabilities with a goal to deliver a complete solution by mid-2020. We are looking for customer stakeholders and if you are interested, please contact your CSM or account representative.

Does App Broker Cloud, only apply to ServiceNow customers, or will it be available to other customers as well?

We plan to deliver the extensible framework for App Broker, using which it will be possible to integrate with any ITSM application as long as they expose the right APIs. Depending on the priority, we will make the integration out of the box but you can get it sooner with the help of our partners, consultants or services team using the extensible framework.

Even if on 2018 R2, OK to use newer agents? Especially for Mac 64 bit and Cloud agents. Others too?

Yes, you can use newer agents with older FNMS infrastructure.

Is Red Hat Openstack a supported KVM Linux adapter?

Yes.

What about Container Management from AWS or Azure?

Containers will be supported whether hosted on-premise, private cloud or a public cloud like AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.

Is there any plan to integrate SaaS Manager into FNMS?

Yes, we plan to integrate FNMS and SaaS manager to bring the data into FNMS so you can take advantage of FNMS's license management capabilities for SaaS applications and get a single pane of visibility for all software, on-prem or SaaS.

Are we planning to integrate Intune for SW inventory or how we can manage Intune managed device inventory in FNMS?

Yes, we are looking to support InTune integration in the future.

How soon will Contract Management Portal be integrated into FNMS?

We are working to modernize our contract management capabilities. The initial focus is on our FNMS Cloud implementation.

Have a wonderful weekend!
