Symptoms

EXITING DUE TO SIGNAL 28 Exit reason 5: Lost connection to lmgrd, heartbeat timeout expired.

Cause

This error is known to occur if the vendor daemon loses its connection to the license server.

Resolution

1. Open Network and Sharing Center
2. Select the change adapter settings
3. Right click on the network adapter and select 'Properties'
4. Select the 'Configure...' button
5. Select the 'Power Management' tab
6. Uncheck 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'
7. Restart the vendor daemon
The screenshot below shows the checkbox that needs to be unchecked.

  1. Open Services (services.msc)
  2. Right click on FlexNet License Server Manager and select Properties
  3. Click on the Recovery tab
  4. Set the First, Second, and Subsequent failures to Restart the Service
  5. Set Reset fail count after to 1 days
  6. Set Restart service after to 0 minutes
