destination folder from registry
one of the requirements for my install is a registry key, which is a path to where a product is installed.
I need to copy a few files into this directroy druing my install...
In the system search node, I have
| Search For | Search In | Store In |
--------------------------------------------
| InstallPath | .... | INSTALLPATH |
so I was wondering how I would use INSTALLPATH as a destination

you didn't use the search, didn't you? Well, i searched, and i found many scripts, but none of them was complete, so they weren't working. I hope this a expert writes a complete, working, and simple script with a good instruction.

I am not sure if I understand you, so just guessing...
If you need to copy a few files during install time, you may just use the keyword "INSTALLDIR" in your script. There is no need for a Registry entry nor a System Search step. If you need a registry entry for your install path, you may enter "[INSTALLDIR]" in your registry setting, which will resolve to the actual install path of your project.

For MSI, perhaps also see this newsletter tip (PDF warning): http://www.macrovision.com/webdocuments/PDF/is_install_dir_from_app_search.pdf?link_id=productsTipsTricks.
