Windows XP, CAB files dimension and "Error 3 was returned by WinVerifyTrust"
I have a setup procedure with a Data1.cab file with a dimension larger than 512 MB.
Some of my customers with Windows XP have encountered an error during install.
The error message is:
"A file that is required cannot be installed because the cabinet file data1.cab has an invalid digital signature. This may indicate that the cabinet file is corrupt. Error 3 was returned by WinVerifyTrust".
Investigating on this error it seems that the cause is not linked to the digital signature but is a problem specific to windows XP when cabinet files are big (I presume larger than 500 MB).
Is it possible to split the cabinet file and produce an installation program that can be used with a DVD without obtain a request of multiple disks?
I set "media type" to "custom" in media type panel.
This solution works if I copy all the cab files in the same folder and I run the setup from local hard drive.
But If I run setup from I obtain a message that request other disks and it is not possible to continue the setup.
any suggestion?
Thanks in advance
regards
JL

You may want to try this:
Configuring the Maximum Size for .cab Files
