Windows 7 Support

I am trying to use installation packages that currently install on Vista and try them out on Windows 7. However, the ones I have tried thus far have failed. Has anyone else tried installing Installshield MSIs on Windows 7?

In what way does the installation fail?

Do you have an Install Condition testing for Vista? In Windows 7 Beta, the value of VersionNT is 601, if that helps at all. [Surprising that it isn't 700, isn't it?]

I just tested our Basic MSI (IS 2009) with Windows 7 beta 1, runs properly.

I've attached a log that I have grabbed from the install:

I am able to successfully launch an InstallScript MSI project on Windows 7.

The log information provided indicates that ISRT.dll couldn't be extracted from ISSetup.dll. I'm not sure why this would be an issue after setup.inx was successfully extracted.

Can you reproduce this problem with a sample InstallScript MSI project? Does this behavior occur if any non-essential services are shut down (i.e., turn off any virus scanners, anti-spyware/malware utilities, etc.)?

I tried one of the sample Installscript MSI projects, and it worked in Windows 7 (Cumulative Setup Sample). So then I went back and disabled Kaspersky 8.0 and the my Installscript MSI worked properly. I guess Kaspersky was blocking some of the Installshield DLLs from extracting. That worked though, thanks for your help!

Thanks for your update. This isn't the first virus scanner we have seen recently interfering with InstallScript engine files. As a general troubleshooting rule, temporarily disabling virus scanners and similar applications can sometimes resolve this type of behavior.
