Validation of upgrade item fails
(Installshield 2008, Basic-MSI)
I have added an Automatic Upgrade Item to my setup, that points to a previous setup. If I try to validate the Upgrade Item the following error occurs (a messageBox appears):
The previous setup and the latest setup do not differ much. I only built a new Release without adding files or changing the version number.
I have created many Updates/Upgrades in the past but this never occurred to me.
Has anyone an idea what I am doing wrong?
Thanks in advance.
H.

Are you building your project as a self-contained single executable (setup.exe)? If you are, try building it with the msi file "unbundled" from the exe (even if just for validation purposes). The validation process needs access to the msi file directly.

Thanks for your reply,
My setup doesn't create a single exe. It creates a setup.exe and an msi-package.
Best regards,
H.
