Uninstall with msiexec /i or /x ?

Hi guys,

We are using Install Shield 2008 Premiere to deploy our application. I noticed that when unintalling or updating, the switch /i is used, instead of /x.

Do you have any idea on how can I change this and use /x switch?

Thanks,
Daniel

There are several ways to uninstall. One is to say /x, one is to say /i REMOVE=ALL and another is to say /i, and then in the UI sequence select the Remove option or custom option and deselect all features so that REMOVE=ALL or REMOVE=list of remaining installed features.

For the most part ( some gotchas with custom action conditions, sequencing and costing behaviors ) they are all the same.

Hy Chris, and thaks for your quick reply.

But how can I control those options. I mean if I choose uninstall or update, how do I choose which switch to use (assuming uninstalling is started from uninstall shortcut or Windows Add Remove Programs and Update by starting another installer).

Best Regards,
Daniel
