Uninstall old files installed via Wise
Hi -
Our current installation is being done thru' Wise and are in the process of moving the installation to IS (IS 2009). The Wise installation has a few files, that will no more be used with the new release (installed thru IS). My question is what is the best way to remove unwanted files from prior installations (includes some files in the INSTALLDIR, a few shortcuts) i.e manage the removal and the new installation all in the new IS install. The idea is when a user upgrades to the latest version, we want to have a clean new version of the app and remove all lingering unwanted files from previous Wise installations. We are using Basic MSI project. I am new and trying to use the best possible setup.
Thanks,
Sujit

If the existing version was packaged in MSI format, you can create a "major upgrade" item in the newer InstallShield project to handle the removal; if not, common practice is to launch the earlier product's uninstaller as a custom action in the newer MSI...
