Test SQL Connection in Basic MSI Project

Jump to solution

Hi,

I am having trouble validating my SQL connection in a Basic MSI Project. I have done it for InstallScript MSI projects and it  is stone simple to do with a UDL file.

1. I am executing the ISSQLServerValidate on the press of the Next key in the SQLLogin dialog. I have tried lots of things and always get "Error 27502". I do have TCP and Named Pipes enabled.

2. If that can't be made to work... is there a way to 'Test Connection' by executing a UDL file from within my installer? (Assuming I have populated the UDL file with the necessary parameters).

Thanks

Resolved.

Need to include the 'Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Native Client' prerequisite in the Redistributables view.
