Small Update: Complete list of items that can be modified

Looking for a complete listing of what can/cannot be touched/modified on a Small Update. I understand that Features & Components cannot be removed but what about their Directory_ or Condition?

Inherited some very bad packaging and trying to clean it up. Can the advertising tables be added/modified for Small Updates?
Do versioning rules take into account versions with 4 fields or only the first 3?The version of the files are 1.0.0.32 & 1.0.0.3 being upgraded to 1.0.0.34 & 1.0.0.4. Tried all file codes of REINSTALLMODE with the file never being updated The files have their own component and are set as the key.

The MSI help topic "Changing the Product Code" is a good list of what can and can't change for different types of upgrades.

Files use all four version fields in comparisons, where ProductVersion uses only the first three.
