Shortcut problem(associated with the locale language)
Hello.. everyone 🙂
Happy new year and May the hopes of the New year come to pass.
BTW,
I have a question. question is like below.
1. Installshield ver : Installshiled2010
2. OS : WindowsXP - Japanese edition
3. Reproduce the environment:
- We changed the locale language.(from Japanese to English)
- Selected language is english.(This program supported english or japanese language.)
- Setup start.
4. problem
- Shortcut is not created.(or Does not register)
I think this issue is very serious problem. 😞
If you know the cause of the this issue, please let me know how to solve.
Have a good day.. Everyone..
Thanks.

Hello.
Where do you create your shortcut file?
Generally, a Shortcut file is located to local users folder or somewhere.
If local users folder's path contains Japanese double byte strings,
shortcut can not be created correctly.
Do you have pure English OS environment?
for such reason, the problem may not happen on that environment.

Hello.. Weakness..
Thanks your answer..
Unfortunately, It did not resolve the problem.
This issue is reproduced only in WindowsXP-Japanese.
(not contains Japanese double byte strings..
and then this environment is normal windowsXP-Japanese)
Again, this issue is as follows.
1. Installshield ver : Installshiled2010
2. OS : WindowsXP - Japanese edition
3. Reproduce the environment:
- We changed the locale language.(from Japanese to English)
- Selected language is english.(This program supported english or japanese language.)
- Setup start.
4. problem
- Shortcut is not created.(or Does not register)
Would you please check again?
Thanks.

Hello.
What project type do you use?( Basic MSI, InstallScript ...? )
If you use Basic MSI or InstallScript MSI, you can confirm Windows Installer log file.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/223300
Can you give me the shortcut's specific located path?
(Ex: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs )
Can you reproduce the same problem with sample project?
