We are using installshield 2008 "InstallScript" Project type to install our product. Now me moved to installshield 2010. I created a "InstallScript Msi" Project type in IS 2010 to install the same product on the client machine. The problem is these two projects have different product guids. So, when i try to install through my new installation, it starts as a fresh installation. But it should start in maintenance mode. We dont want the customer to uninstall the existing one and install the new one.
I tried to put the same product GUID for these two projects, but with no luck. Can someone help?
Firstly, Is Maintenance support enabled in the project? Secondly, The old Product Guid should be used in the new project. This coupled with the maintenance support enabled should work fine.
