InstallShield 11.5: Delay in Loading assemblies while invoking suite installer.
We are using Macrovision's InstallShield for a long time and we currently use InstallShield 5.0 SP3. To explore the new functionalities of InstallShield's later version we used evaluation version of InstallShield 11.5(Premier Edition).
Our product consists of 22 components; so far we made a separate installer for each component. During the evaluation we had an idea of installing all the 22 components together to make the installs available in a single CD, so we built each component as an assembly and combined the assemblies using a Dynamic Suite installer. While doing so we are observing a delay of 4-6 seconds before the welcome panel could be displayed after the installer was invoked. This was for a size of 64 MB.To install the components, we execute the Suite installer which invokes the assemblies. We performed load testing by adding the same assembly repeatedly. Now it takes around 8-10 minutes to load a set of assemblies (components) which is approximately 150MB. After recognizing the assemblies the installer proceeds with the normal flow. This delay makes us inconvenient to install the components each time. Can you please suggest us a solution to over come this delay, so that we can migrate to InstallShield 11.5 with out any problem.
Kindly note that our decision to purchase 11.5 depends on this performance criteria. The full size of our suite would be more than 200MB.

A service pack for 11.5 (sp1) was released which does help this behavior a bit, but when the project gets very large, it will still take a lot of time. I am running a dynamic suite with 150 assemblies. You can put in a panel that appears before the 'suite initialize' wizard action which comes up first and will stay up while the suite installer is being initialized and that can make things look a little better.
