Hello folks,
Does anyone know if it is considered poor practice to put IIS Websites and their applications within the same component?

You can associate multiple IIS elements with a single component. I believe InstallShield adds applications to the same Component with the IIS website by default.
See this article for more information about the feature and component Associations for IIS Support: http://helpnet.flexerasoftware.com/installshield20helplib/Content/helplibrary/IISFeatureComponent.htm
