Customization of Installshield script

Hello

I'm new to Installshield. I have to work with Installshield Developer 8.0 to customize an Installshield project. Is there a possibility to set the IS Project information such as Product-Code, INSTALLDIR,and Product Version programmatically from an external application (probably using some scripts ?? )

Also,Does using InstallScript supplied along with the Installshield is of any help ? My requirement is to be able to pass the user defined configuration information to a configuration file and somehow read this information while compiling the Installshield project.

Any help in this direction is much appreciated
