Create upgrade installation using free InstallShield shipped with VS2012

Please help. Does anyone know how I can create a new installation setup that will upgrade an existing installation of the same application. I've tried to create an upgrade path but this didn't work and when I installed my new setup a dialog box popped up to tell me that the current version couldn't be upgrade, it had to be removed using control panel. This is not an ideal customer experience and I would like to create a setup that did perform the update.

Any ideas?

Hello Jason,

Could you please tell me, if you are trying to apply the upgrades for which version of ISLE?

If the older installation of the application is of the same version, then you might have to remove it from the control panel, so as to make the new upgraded setup to run.
