Build function greyed out
This might sound stupid...
I open up a vendor's MSI, I need to make changes to orginal MSI itself. (sorry, I coudn't use a transform because I need to add additional components and stuff).... Why is the build function greyed out?

If you open an MSI in Direct Edit mode, the changes you make are saved directly in the MSI database, so no rebuild required.
If you do want a build process, you can open the .msi file "as wizard", which converts it to an InstallShield project that you can rebuild and so on.
