Basic MSI: silent install not installing .NET 2.0
I have the release options set to:
This works fine for an interactive install.
For a silent install, it will download the package, then ... nothing. It does not install it.
For our x64 and ia64 versions this uses a Setup Prerequisite and it works fine interactively and silently.
If I modify the above settings to pack the .NET into the SETUP.EXE, that will work fine, but at the expense increasing the size of the resultant package from 18M to 41M. I'd rather not since there is a good chance that .NET 2.0 is already installed anyway.
My only clue here is that if i run this interactively, it pops up a Windows security dialog with the publisher (microsoft) and you have to hit Run or Cancel. Maybe that could be happening.
Oh, this is Server 2003 SP1.
Any idea how to get this to work?
How about using a Setup Prerequisite? There isn't an option for x86 .NET 2.0.
Thanks for any help,
Bob
- Download from the web

- Display .NET Option dialog: NO
- Show full ui when installing .NET framework: NO
- Delay .NET reboot: NO
