build time environment available at install time
I am working on a new project, and was thinking of parameterizing the installer for some different scenarios. One idea I had was to somehow supply a parameter at build-time that could be picked up at install-time so the installer could behave differently for different sub-products. But I can't see how to send these parameters. I tried creating an environment variable, %IA_PATH_FOO%, which resolves in the project to $FOO$ at build-time to import files, but $FOO$ is not set at install time. What I am doing now is generating a custom code properties file that goes in my custom code jar file and a custom code action that loads it, but that seems klunky. Are there any other ways to communicate parameters from the build environment to the installer?

Well, I'll have to upgrade from 2010 for that solution. But it's nice to know there's something I want in the upgrade! Thanks for the reply.
