Installing both 2008 and 2010 on same computer
I am about to upgrade to IA 2010 for one of my installer projects. (Purchase order is in process, so I don't have the software yet.) Will I be able to have both IA 2010 and IA 2008 VP1 on the same computer or will they conflict with each other in some way so I would need to get a second computer for the development/build process for the 2010-based projects? I'm not prepared to upgrade all my projects at this time.

AFAIK, as long as you install in separate folders you'll be all right. On an old build machine I've got 6 different versions installed.
On another hand you might temporarily need IA 2009 to do intermediate migration of projects.
