.XML file type not shown in file evidence

Hello!

I was asked about why a certain file of type .xml which has been verified to exist on the device was not being shown under the file evidence for a Linux device while many other files from that file path were being shown.  I checked a couple more devices too (windows as well) and saw the same situation.  Is this a setting which is set up during the configuration of the agent?  Or are these files simply not tracked when inventory is taken?  Thanks!

Xml is not one of the file types which are collected. While you can configure the agent to collect this data, it will not be imported and visible in the product.

Also see the following page which describes what file data is gathered: What data does the FlexNet inventory agent gather as file and installer evidence?

I see... so the .XML extension files won't be displayed in FlexeraOne as evidence even if configured to be gathered?

Also a followup question, how is it decided what directories will be listed under file evidence?  I was under the impression that it would gather everything of an approved file type, but I am seeing some .SWID files missing while others are present in one of our Linux servers.  How are the directories pulled as evidence chosen?  Thanks!

That is correct, only certain supported file types are imported to the compliance database and shown in the UI.

The paths that are scanned are based on your file evidence settings: https://docs.flexera.com/flexera/EN/ITAssets/InvSet-FileInvSection.htm

In regards to Linux there are further settings for network drives and file systems.
