Asset type not set automatically

I would like to understand how to fix the Asset type to set automatically - segregating its own asset type. By default it set  the Asset type to "workstation" if no value is specified. How to we fix this , instead manually updating the asset type.

@Dineshflex - When creating a Hardware Asset from an Inventory Device, there is no logic to automatically set the Asset Type.  FNMS would need to have some type of lookup table based on the Manufacturer/Model Number/Operating System of the inventory device to determine the type.  Potentially, this information would be provided by Technopedia.  This would be a good topic to submit as an IDEA for a potential enhancement to Flexera One.

@kclausen -  Thanks for the clarification. So you mean to say that Flexera has potential to segregate its asset type via Technopedia - or is there any rule to be set in-order to lookup any table to set the asset type. If that's the case - is there  Asset mapping reference should be coming from any source?

@Dineshflex - To be clear, there is nothing out of the box that exists today.

Assuming you have hardware standards, you can build your own reference table.  For example, if the Manufacturer is "Dell" and the Model is "Latitude", then the Asset Type should be Laptop.  If the Manufacturer is "Dell" and the Model is "Optiplex", then the Asset Type should be Workstation.  You would need to build this into a Business Adapter to make sure that the correct Asset Type is assigned to each Hardware Asset.
