Wrong Quantity For "Upgrade Licenses"
Wrong Quantity For "Upgrade Licenses"
Summary
Following an upgrade operation both the FlexNet Operations (FNO) Administrative Console and Web services return the wrong quantity in certain circumstances.Symptoms
Following an upgrade operation both the FlexNet Operations (FNO) Administrative Console and Web services return the wrong quantity in certain circumstances.Cause
Steps to reproduce the problem:
- create one license with quantity 1.
- activate this license
- upgrade the license
- the quantity of the upgraded license is shown as 1 but it should be 0
Resolution
This is the expected behaviour and the following note has been added to the documentation -
FlexNet Operations does not evaluate the count of available copies when an upgrade is created. Therefore it is possible to create an upgrade count that exceeds the number of available copies; however, the count is evaluated at fulfillment time. On fulfillment, upgrades that exceed the available count are rejected. To avoid errors at fulfillment time, users may invoke the method getExactAvailableCount(), which returns exact number of copies available for upgrade fulfillment. This method is available as a webservice call and also as part of public API.
Workaround
A a new public API as a webservice has been created : getExactAvailableCount()
