FlexNet Operations UAT Issue (05 May 2022): FAQs

As you have been notified in Revenera’s various status updates, FlexNet Operations UAT experienced an issue on 05 May 2022. As of this date, device data no longer exists in UAT. The impact on FlexNet Operations customers includes the following:

  • This UAT issue does not impact FlexNet Publisher licensing, Electronic Software Delivery (ESD), or Container Delivery functionality.
  • The issue does impact FlexNet Operations ALM and LLM customers using FlexNet Embedded licensing (including Usage) or ALM customers using Updates & Insights.

The purpose of this document is to provide answers to commonly asked questions about this issue. Where applicable, the answer provides a link to the appropriate article that provides further guidance.

Commonly Asked Questions

The following lists the commonly asked questions and answers pertaining to the 05 May 2022 UAT issue.

As a FlexNet Operations customer who uses the UAT environment to validate both FlexNet Embedded and FlexNet Publisher licensing, how does this UAT issue impact us? 

While your FlexNet Publisher data is not impacted by the recent events, you are advised to perform a validation of the data related to FlexNet Publisher licensing. FlexNet Embedded licensing is impacted. For guidance on how required data for devices can be restored in UAT, see FlexNet Operations UAT Issue (05 May 2022): FlexNet Operations ALM Customers Using FlexNet Embedded Licensing or Updates & Insights.

As a FlexNet Operations customer who uses the UAT environment to validate standalone Updates and Insights only, how does the UAT issue impact us? 

Tests using existing devices will fail when polling for updates. The device data needs to be repopulated in the environment. For more details, see FlexNet Operations UAT Issue (05 May 2022): FlexNet Operations ALM Customers Using FlexNet Embedded Licensing or Updates & Insights.

As a FlexNet Operations customer who uses the UAT environment to validate Electronic Software Delivery, how does the UAT issue impact us? 

While your Electronic Software Delivery (ESD) data is not impacted by the recent events, you are advised to perform a validation of the data related to ESD setup in the UAT Producer Portal, as well as validate access to downloads in the End-User Portal. As a FlexNet Operations On Premises customer using only Electronic Software Delivery, how does the UAT issue impact us? 

While your Electronic Software Delivery (ESD) data is not impacted by the recent events, you are advised to perform a validation of the data related to ESD setup in the UAT Producer Portal, as well as validate access to downloads in the End-User Portal. What is being done to prevent future disruptions in UAT?  

Revenera will issue a follow-up incident report that will provide information about the root cause and outline preventative measures.  

Additionally, Revenera will enhance their UAT database infrastructure to include a Disaster Recovery failover environment. Revenera is also significantly enhancing database backup processes. The incident report will include additional details on this plan. 

How can we tell if our UAT was affected?

The impact of the 05 May 2022 UAT issue is dependent on your products and your use of the UAT environment.   Refer to previous questions in this FAQ. 

What actions do we need to take to use UAT now that the issue is resolved?

No action is required as long as you are not using FlexNet Embedded or Updates & Insights. However, Revenera strongly advises you validate that you are able to access the information you need in the UAT. Use the checks listed in FlexNet Operations UAT Issue (05 May 2022): FlexNet Publisher Licensing, Electronic Software Delivery, and Container Delivery Customers.

If you are using FlexNet Embedded or Updates and Insights, you will need to follow the steps described in the appropriate article below to recreate FlexNet Embedded device data:

Will all of our Harbor Registry data be intact?

Yes. This data will be intact.

Will all of our file images in UAT be restored?

Any file image that you were accessing before this issue occurred will still be accessible.

Will user credentials and roles remain the same?

Yes. End-user credentials and roles in UAT remain intact.

Will server IDs be recognized by existing APIs when UAT is restored?

For FlexNet Embedded local license servers, users must recreate the server with the same ID.

For CLS (Cloud license server) instances, the instance ID will not be the same. Users will need to update clients with the newest instance ID.

How do we obtain help with UAT if it is still problematic?

You can enter a case via the Get Support menu in the Revenera Community. Be sure to specify your UAT environment and tenant ID and provide details about your issue.
