Obsolete VMWare discovery records returning due to IBM PVU scans

Obsolete VMWare discovery records returning due to IBM PVU scans

Description

Old VMWare servers that no longer exist or were deleted are showing up in inventory logs.
Often, the "Virtual Cluster Server Scan for IBM PVU" inventory process will fail against the servers.

Replication Scenario

Deleting the discovery record of the vCenter server should remove the recognition of vCenter inventory on old devices. However, the discovery record is being recreated when old discovery records are uploaded from the beacon.

When running "Virtual Cluster Server Scan for IBM PVU", an error trying to discover or inventory a server that should no longer be there will appear.

Workaround

Deleting the cached discovery file on the beacon should prevent this from happening, but might not be feasible with multiple beacons and IBM PVU enabled.
