How To Troubleshoot Report Designer/IBM Cognos Analytics Errors?


What to do when Analytics will not load. An error is presented on the screen stating Analytics is not configured


When clicking on Analytics under the Reports tab, the following error is displayed:

We have a problem.

Analytics is not available

It appears that Cognos is not installed or configured for use. Speak to your FlexNet Manager administrator about setting up Analytics. You may return to the dashboard.


This message indicates that there is a configuration or permission problem on the Cognos Analytics side.

The logs for Cognos Analytics can be found in the install directory, and the default path is located at C:\Program Files\ibm\cognos\analytics\logs\
The most relevant logs to look for an Error in are:
  1. cogserver.log
  2. p2pd_messages.log
  3. p2pd_messages<+DateStamp>.log
Searching for the specific errors in the Knowledge Base Article should be helpful to identify the problem, or contact Flexera Technical Support for further assistance.

Wrong server name in the when doing the install. Fixed and reinstalled the application
