Hello All,

What is the general behavior of FNMS system in this scenario?

A device being consumed by license-1.

A duplicate license created and we wanted to allocate the same device manually to the newly created license-2 (this license is created for diff business unit, without using restrictions)

In this case, does FNMS automatically 'exempt' from license-1 ?  OR

Should we first exempt the device from license-1 and then only allocate it to license-2.

Since a software installation can only be consumed against a single license, once you allocate the device against License-2, it will consume against that license only.  You do not need to exempt the device on License-1.

Just allocate the device to License-2, run another License Reconciliation and you will be good to go.

Hi @ImIronMan.

Assuming the two licenses have the same application construct, the device will move across to the new license it is allocated to, as allocation takes priority in the license algorithms. No the device will not be exempted on the first license, it will just consume once on license 2.

Regards,
