Did you mean:

The Inventory Beacon software is attempting to upgrade.

Hi,

I have connected a Beacon server FNMS 2020 R2 with version 16.0.1
to a FlexNet Manager Suite 2020 R1 application server with version 15.0.0.5.

Then I got the message:
'The Inventory Beacon software is attempting to upgrade.
This windows must be closed to allow the upgrade to take place.
Would you like to save your changes and exit now?'

The typical message for an update, but in this case it was a downgrade.

Now the beacon server has also version 15.0.0.5.

I guess FNMS checked only if the version is not equal?

What's the configuration of the Beacon, i.e. its 'Upgrade mode'?

You should be able to control its upgrade/downgrade options from there...

Thanks,

It's the default configuration: Always use the approved version (currently 16.0.1.3)

@Tooling42

I would say it's a bug then that it suggests the upgrade/downgrade if the beacon was already running 16.0.1.3, please create a support case.

Thanks,

Sorry for the confusion.

At the beginning of the post I started with: FlexNet Manager Suite 2020 R1 application server with version 15.0.0.5.
That was correct, when I saw this behavior.

In the meantime I have upgraded the system to FNMS 2020 R2 and unfortunately I copied the setting of now.

To bring this post to an end. For me the behavior is:

FNMS 2020 R1 as application (Version 15.0.0.5.) has changed the version of the beacon server
software from FNMS Version 16.0.1 to Version 15.0.0.5. and there is only a check that
the version is not the same.

But there is no check that the installed version of the beacon software is greater than the provided version.
