Photon OS - VMWare Discovery and Inventory and FlexNet Inventory Agent

Does anyone have experience working in environments that are running Photon OS ("an open source, minimal Linux container host that is optimized for cloud-native applications, cloud platforms, and VMware infrastructure") they can share as it relates to FNMS Discovery and Inventory for VMware and the FlexNet Inventory Agent running on it?

I guess more specifically, does Flexera support Photon Linux based VCSA 6.5/6.7 vCenters (appliances)?

As of now, Flexera does not support it (as it is not listed in the list of supported operating systems for the agent).

However, that doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't work. Do you have a test machine?

Did you try installing agent on your Photon Linux based VCSA 6.5/6.7 vCenters appliance to obtain an inventory for this device?

We have a similar issue where the Vcenter job creates an NDI and shell record for the VCSA  appliance but is missing critical information such as serial number.  Am thinking we need to install the agent (assuming works) on this device to fill out the shell record.

Something doesn't seen quite right with the process though.

Hey Kyle.

Probably unrelated, but if your goal is to get the vCenter license, Host information and VM to Host relationships, you can do that with a Discovery & Inventory Rule to reach out to the API like any other vCenter.
