Cognos Licensing embedded in 2019R1

Hi guys, does anybody know what specific version/edition of IBM Cognos is covered by the 2019R1 version? In addition, given that IBM Cognos licensing is a bit tricky: - Where are the source files available to be downloaded? - Can a PMR (support ticket) be raised with IBM directly in case of issues? - What are the specific usage rights allowed for the Program? Any official information will be highly appreciated! Thanks, Diego

Hi Diego,

The version shipped with FNMS 2019 R1 is Cognos Analytics 11.0.11.
Since it is being licensed as part of FNMS any access to the software/support should be handled through Flexera.
You can download it along with FNMS via the community/product downloads area.

As far as specific usage rights – you can read the EULA that is presented inside FNMS by going to the following URL:

http://<your_fnms_server/suite/eula

Murray

The version of IBM Cognos we're using in 2019 R1 is 11.0.11 (this was the version last year that addressed quite a few security vulnerabilities).

You can download the installer directly from the IBM site or from our Product License Center (from the respective release folder).

There is an automated install-and-configure script that comes along with the FNMS installer which can be used to configure Cognos in two modes:

  • Silent Install (Recommended); this method is advised when you want to automate all the steps end-to-end
  • Manual Install; this method is advised only if you would like to perform a non-standard install

Typically, customers do not raise PMRs directly since our version is customized but you can reach out to IBM directly for general questions if you have an IBM Passport Advantage subscription. For questions specific to our version, you'd have to use our support process which relay questions to IBM on a need basis.

The use rights are slightly different between our on-premise and cloud versions but quite open as far as customer access to features is concerned. There are a few unobtrusive lockdowns for security reasons (again mostly on the cloud version).
