Updates to IBM PVU Point Rules

Change Summary

Flexera Content team will be updating the existing IBM PVU points rule for certain Intel Xeon processors to sync with IBM vendor literature. These are expected to be released via ARL cab file on July 30th, 2021.

Impact

Below are the updates to be published:

1)        Processor type for Intel Xeon X Series from 5500 to 5999

  • Up to 2 sockets with 70 points
  • 3 or 4 sockets with 100 points and
  • 5 or more sockets with 120 points.

2)        Processor type for Intel Xeon X Series from 6500 to 6999

  • Up to 2 sockets with 70 points
  • 3 or 4 sockets with 100 points and
  • 5 or more sockets with 120 points.

3)        Processor type for Intel Xeon X Series from 7500 to 7999

  • Up to 2 sockets with 70 points
  • 3 or 4 sockets with 100 points and
  • 5 or more sockets with 120 points.

4)        Intel Xeon Gold 5xxx series will be updated as defined by IBM:

5)        Two separate Points rules will be defined to avoid conflict between Xeon vs Xeon scalable series like Gold/Silver/Platinum/Bronze

Customers with existing IBM PVU points license that have these processor types will see improved accuracy in their license consumption.

The new rules are expected to be released via ARL cab file as usual on July 30th  2021.
