This answers some common questions about Technopedia fields in the Software Product Hierarchy.

Discussion

Suite Information: Indicates if a product is part of a suite 'True' or 'False'.

Release: A release is a combination of Manufacturer + Product + Version + (optional Edition) + Release Date (GA).

Licensable: A flag that indicates whether the Software Release is licensable or not.

Version: A Version is different from a Release and does not contain Edition or Release Date. A Version can translate into multiple Releases if it has multiple Editions.

Technopedia tracks to the Minor Version. For example: 11.1.2, 11.1.3, and 11.1.6 are all shown as 11.1 in the Technopedia catalog.

Edition: Software Product Edition name (if Applicable), such as "Enterprise"

Version Group: The name of Version Group (label is Market Version in BDNA Analyze) of the software product. A sample is Version "15" with a Market Version of "2016".

Family: Software Product Brand/Family (if applicable), such as "Office".

Thanks for the detailed presentation of the individual terms and how they are represented in BDNA.

Technopedia tracks to the Minor Version. For example: 11.1.2, 11.1.3, and 11.1.6 are all shown as 11.1 in the Technopedia catalog.

If I understand it correctly, then there is no way to map the version in the specified level of detail (11.1.2, 11.1.3), because DP always summarizes them to 11.1

Now the question arises for me, how to use this information to represent e.g. CVEs which only refer to a certain version 11.1.3, but not to 11.1.6? Are these always displayed for version 11.1?

With reference to this posting Analyzer Report field for current version , does the result of 'SW Versions (Calc)' based on "11.1" or "11.1.3"? E.g 11.1.3 is installed and 11.1.6 is the latest - does the counter will show 0 or 3 ?

I reached out to our Content Engineers in regards to your question--please find the answers below.

1. Based on the current design, although we map CPE to the detailed version, for example, we map 11.1.3, 11.1.6 to CPE version 11.1.3, 11.1.6, but since DP summarizes them to 11.1, the CVEs for 11.1.3 & 11.1.6 will both be displayed for version 11.1.

2. 'SW Versions (Calc)' is based on "11.1", if this version is the latest, then the counter will show 0.
