  1. Title: Correcting Version group for Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package product versions 14.50 and 14.51

    Class 1

Customers should be prepared and take the necessary actions.

    Summary

Correcting the version group for Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package product versions 14.50 and 14.51.

Previously, these releases were created under version group 2022 in Technopedia; however, based on the actual product versioning, they should be aligned with Visual Studio 2026. So, we have decided to capture these versions under the ‘2026’ version group.

    Impact

This change will impact customers who rely on Technopedia Product ID/Release ID & Names or previously discovered data mapped to the old product will be mapped to the new product. The change requires the customer to manage downstream processes and reporting in their organization.

    Note:

    ·  As part of the new CCN process, releases with the updated name have already been created in Technopedia.

    · The migration of discovered data mappings will occur after 1, 2, or 4 weeks, depending on the CCN type. In this case, it will be one week.

    · Accordingly, the new release IDs are included in the spreadsheet to help manage downstream processes and organizational reporting

The new changes will have an impact on both the catalog and evidence mapping levels, as there will be updates/deletions at the existing catalog level that directly impact the existing normalized Mappings. Details of these sample evidence, products, and releases are provided in the attachment.

    Timeframe

Expected Time to Implementation (ETA): on/after September 2026, 18th.

  2. Title: Correcting inconsistencies within Technopedia for wildfly/apache-tomcat/liberty/nginx sub packages/components installer evidence

    Class 3

Customers should be prepared and take the necessary actions.

    Summary

We had an inconsistency in the recognition of the “wildfly/apache-tomcat/liberty/nginx sub packages/components”; now we are going to unmap this discovery in Technopedia.

Currently, installer evidence “wildfly/apache-tomcat/liberty/nginx sub packages/components” was recognized for the product and the releases by capturing the distinct products. Since it is a component/library/sub packages used by their primary product ecosystem functionality, it does not have a distinct installation that can be independently identified. Now we are going to mark this as irrelevant in our Technopedia.

Along with ignoring this discovery data, we are also implementing the following changes:

WildFly, Apache-Tomcat, Liberty, and NGINX will remain as the primary products. The associated sub-packages, components, and libraries that were previously captured as separate products with individual Product IDs will be removed from the primary product hierarchy. Only the primary products will be retained for recognition and mapping purposes.

    Impact

This change will impact customers who rely on Technopedia Product ID/Release ID & Names, or previously discovered data mapped to the old manufacturer will be mapped to the new manufacturer. The change requires the customer to manage downstream processes and reporting in their organization.

The evidences that will have an impact are listed in the spreadsheet.

    Timeframe

Expected Time to Implementation (ETA): September 22nd – 24th
