Why does a license show Unknown compliance status?
In Flexera One IT Asset Management and FlexNet Manager Suite, the Compliance status for licenses appears in views such as All Licenses. Occasionally, a license may show Unknown. This means compliance assessment is not possible with the available data. Below are the common reasons for this status
The Unknown status is reported when essential information for compliance calculation is missing. Common scenarios include:
1.Missing calculations (Reconcile not yet run): If a compliance calculation has not yet been performed, license compliance status will show as Unknown.
Run a manual Reconcile from the Reconcile page, or wait for the scheduled overnight reconcile process to complete.
2.Missing hardware details required for license type calculations: Certain license types (such as Microsoft Server Core and Microsoft Server Processor) need hardware details like number of cores, threads, or physical processors. Older inventory tools, for example, Microsoft SMS or SCCM versions prior to 2012, do not provide these details.
When inventory data lacks these properties, compliance cannot be accurately determined.
To correct this, identify computers linked to the license with missing hardware data, update these values manually, or use an inventory tool that captures complete hardware information.
3.No applications associated with the license: If a license has no mapped applications, its compliance status will usually be Unknown.
To resolve this, link installed applications to the license or temporarily allocate the license to specific computers and enable Count allocations as always installed in the license properties.
