Normalize gap-fill resolution goals for Flexera One IT Visibility and Data Platform

The Normalize gap-fill process is designed to improve the quality and completeness of your IT asset data in Data Platform and Flexera One IT Visibility. When Flexera Normalize encounters entries it cannot automatically identify, those entries are labeled as "Unknown". The gap-fill process allows customers to submit these unknown entries to Flexera, which then returns updated, normalized results. This helps convert unknowns into "Known" entries (either Mapped or Irrelevant), ensuring more accurate and actionable data.

This process is essential for:

• Maintaining a clean and complete inventory
• Supporting license compliance and optimization
• Enhancing visibility across your IT environment

 The following article outlines Flexera's Resolution goals for gap-fill. 

Definitions

• Data Source: An operational IT tool that collects hardware and software data to be normalized.
• Unmatched Data: Hardware and software data from a Data Source that is not successfully normalized by Flexera Normalize, excluding custom software and hardware.
• Gap-Fill: The process where a customer submits Unmatched Data to Flexera, and Flexera returns normalized results to be integrated back into Normalize.

Resolution goals

• Tier 1 and Tier 2 vendors:
  Flexera will provide gap-fill for all unmatched data from the customer’s data source within 30 days, as defined in the Technopedia Catalog.

• Tier 3 vendors:
  Flexera will provide gap-fill within 30 days for any unmatched data with more than 20 installations of a single product.

• Large initial submissions:
  For large volumes of unmatched data, Flexera will provide an estimated timeline for gap-fill within 3 business days. Customers must submit a support ticket to request this estimate.
