Frequently asked questions about application catalogs in AdminStudio
This article addresses common questions about using Application Catalogs in AdminStudio’s Application Manager, including folder limitations, package capacity, and catalog deletion.
How many folders can be created in an Application Catalog?
There is no technical limit on the number of folders you can create in a flat structure. However, if you're using a nested folder hierarchy, keep in mind that Windows path length restrictions apply. On most Windows systems, the total path length (including folder names) must not exceed 260 characters.
How many packages or applications can be added to each folder?
There is no fixed limit. You can import as many packages or applications as your SQL database can support. The actual limit is based on available database storage and system performance, not AdminStudio itself.
How do you delete an Application Catalog? Can this be done through the AdminStudio UI?
No. Currently, there is no option in the AdminStudio user interface to delete a catalog. To remove a catalog, you must manually delete the associated database using SQL Server Management Studio or a SQL script. This action should be performed by a qualified SQL Server administrator.
